Medicare Plans & Coverage

Posted by:  :  Category: Medicare

Medicare Supplement plans pay for things that your Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like copays, coinsurance, or deductibles. You can see any Medicare-approved doctor without referral, and you’ll have a monthly bill that’s predictable and budget-friendly. You can even buy dental and vision insurance to make your coverage complete.

What’s Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)?

Some Medigap policies also offer coverage for services that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like medical care when you travel outside the U.S. If you have Original Medicare and you buy a Medigap policy, Medicare will pay its share of the Medicare-approved amount for covered health care costs. Then your Medigap policy pays its share.

Barbara, Remember Medigap Plan F fills in the gaps of Original Medicare. So, if your lab blood work is covered by Medicare (and it most likely should be), Plan F will pick up the rest of the cost. The reason we can’t say it’s with 100% certainty your test is covered is: maybe most of your lab work is covered, but your doctor wants to run a test that isn’t covered, so therefore that part of test will not be covered by Medicare or F. To learn if a specific service is covered you will want to contact Medicare directly.
