Las Vegas Medicare, Clark County NV Medicare

Original Medicare covers Part A and Part B.  Medicare Part A is hospital insurance and Medicare Part B is medical Insurance.  Medicare Part C, or Medicare Advantage is what private insurance companies offer, and coverage varies on the plan you choose. Part D in some cases is included in the plans.  The two main plans under Medicare Advantage are HMO plans and PPO plans.  PPO plans offer the freedom to choose out-of-network doctors and specialists while in most cases HMO plans do not.  However, the copay or deductible may be higher if the beneficiary chooses an out-of-network doctor under a PPO plan.

What is Medicare? What is Medicaid?

Medicare Part A, or Hospital Insurance (HI), helps pay for hospital stays, which includes meals, supplies, testing, and a semi-private room. This part also pays for home health care such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy that is provided on a part-time basis and deemed medically necessary. Care in a skilled nursing facility as well as certain medical equipment for the aged and disabled such as walkers and wheelchairs are also covered by Part A. Part A is generally available without having to pay a monthly premium since payroll taxes are used to cover these costs.

Medicare premium increases, Part B premiums in 2014

Posted by:  :  Category: Medicare

There is no question Medicare premiums are going up and up as are Medicare taxes. But to blame that on Obamacare is misdirected. Premiums are going up primarily because of the underlying use of health care services by a growing Medicare population and by the cost of each of those services.

But Koko Mackin, the company’s vice president of corporate communications, has repudiated the message. "It contains incorrect information received by an employee who redistributed it to six others," he told reporters. "We have a longstanding policy against distributing chain emails like this, and actions have been taken to reinforce this policy. We apologize for any confusion or concern this email may have caused."

How to Reform Medicare: First Stage to Fix the Current Program

[5]The significant differences in official long-term projections, including projections of the program’s unfunded liability, reflect the differences in agency assumptions, particularly about the likelihood of the continuation of current law. The Medicare Trustees and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) are required to make projections under current law, which assumes, for example, that the large Medicare Part A payment reductions are sustainable and that the projected 29.4 percent reduction in Medicare physician payment will be implemented in 2012. The Office of the Actuary in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) makes projections based on the premise that key elements of current law are simply “unworkable.” See John D. Shatto and M. Kent Clemens, “Projected Medicare Expenditures Under an Illustrative Scenario with Alternative Payment Updates to Medicare Providers,” Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Office of the Actuary, May 13, 2011, at https://www.cms.gov/ReportsTrustFunds/downloads/2010TRAlternativeScenario.pdf (September 19, 2011).

Premium Support: Medicare's Future and its Critics

[10] While the Wyden–Ryan proposal has attracted the most media attention, Senators Tom Coburn (R–OK) and Richard Burr (R–NC) are also champions of a well-fleshed-out premium support plan. On Capitol Hill, the basic idea of a defined contribution for Medicare financing goes back to the 1980s, when Representatives Richard Gephardt (D–MO) and David Stockman (R–MI) offered a Medicare voucher program. Their proposal was supported by the Reagan Administration. During the 1990s, Senator John Breaux (D–LA) and Representative Bill Thomas (R–CA), co-chairmen of the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare, unveiled a comprehensive Medicare premium support proposal modeled after the FEHBP, but it was opposed by the Clinton Administration. Today, top analysts from a variety of institutions—the Brookings Institution, American Enterprise Institute, National Center for Policy Analysis, and Progressive Policy Institute—have endorsed this approach.

Financial Help for Diabetes Care

Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) are part of Medicare and are sometimes called MA Plans. Medicare must approve Medicare Advantage Plans. Each Medicare Advantage Plan must cover Part A and Part B services and may cover other services, too. Medicare Advantage Plans may have Part D prescription coverage. If not, a person can buy a Part D plan separately. Medicare Advantage Plans are not all the same. A person who is thinking of choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan should ask about the rules of the plan. The rules may specify which health care providers or hospitals a person may use. The plan may require a referral from a primary care provider to see a specialist. The plan may not cover medical expenses incurred during travel. How much a person has to pay out-of-pocket each year will vary by plan. People who have a Medicare Advantage Plan cannot have a Medigap plan to help pay out‑of-pocket costs. See the section on Medigap. Four types of Medicare Advantage Plans are available:
